How to write a dawn good novel

I received this book as a gift (I asked for it) a few years ago.  I've decided to write a book and  needed some tools to start.  The reviews were good, so why not?

A few years later, and still no book.  At least, no finished one.  This blog is here to help me focus on the task.
I don't want to set a dateline to finish it, because I'm a stay-at-home mom and when the kids are here, it's very difficult to concentrate on nothing else but them.  But, I want to do this and I know I can do it.  I just need a big kick in the b....  This is it.

I have a few problems with the writing.  First, I'm French speaking (sorry in advance for all the mistakes I'll make).  I don't really use English in my every day activities, so why do I want to write in English?  Don't ask.  It's part of a long list of things that don't make since with me.  My grand-father was British, so maybe that's why I feel such a connection with the language (and the nation).  My imagination works in English.  It's like watching a film in English in my head.     My second problem is that I totally lack confidence in my self (The kick in the b... is very needed here).  I have many ideas for a story, but they don't get developed as a novel.  That's going to change.

I'm hesitating between a remake of THE SHOP AROUND THE CORNER (I didn't like the film You got mail.  Thought it wasn't really romantic.  I don't think it's romantic when two people in a relationship are seeking romance outside the couple, and I don't believe you could get involved with a man who just destroyed your whole life (bankrupted the book store).  I just didn't buy it, and judging by the comments on it, I wasn't the only one.  The other story is temporarily called bewitched, because it deals with witches, but it has nothing to do with the old tv program.  I'll choose one and start my book with the help of the book by James N. Frey (How to write a dawn good novel).
